Eddie Burger + Bar

I’m overwhelmingly smitten (in the loving sense) with anything organic and when I found out that I could choose to have organic beef on my Eddie burger I was completely elated. For just a couple of bucks more you can choose to upgrade your meat to either organic or kobe style beef, you can also choose your bun, sauce and toppings – now that’s choice! Does anyone remember the Paris Restaurant? It was a local hot spot for decades that made the most amazing burgers. They have long since closed and it wasn’t until last week, when I had my first bite of the Eddie New Zealand burger, that my burger spark became reignited. Now picture this: juicy Alberta beef, lamb, bison, also pork, chicken and veggie options all done to perfection, home-made sauces such as roasted garlic aioli, Dijon mustard, hot buffalo and a plethora of over 25 exciting toppings including: aged cheddar, gorgonzola, cappicola ham, fried eggs, sautéed onions and grilled pineapple.

The small 60 seat space is dead cool: high top tables with gorgeous stools, flat screen TVs, high-tech wine coolers and a designer toilet to boot. I went there with my husband and two young sons and we felt completely at home sitting next to business locals lunching, and several tables of sexy 20 somethings starting, slightly early, on the impressive drinks menu. This feels like a real people’s place; good food and a good vibe. The atmosphere is crisp casual and like the crew of a well run ship, the staff were attentive and efficient, a sure sign of a capable captain, Joe Gregory, who certainly has directed this ship in the right direction.

Oh…but did I mention the chocolate milkshake, you MUST indulge yourself or if you’re contemplating cocktails …oh go on…. may I suggest the coco mojito.

Located just off Banff Avenue at the corner of Caribou St. …..Look for the Green Beetle Bug with a gigantic burger on top of the roof.
